Bike to School for Clean Air

About the Project

CCNN launched the Bike to School for Clean Air initiative to raise awareness about air pollution and promote cycling as a practical solution among young students. With financial support from Clean Energy Nepal, the program combined expert-led sessions, workshops, and hands-on bicycle training across 4 schools in Kathmandu Valley.

The program filled a critical gap in environmental education by offering locally contextual knowledge on air pollution — an issue rarely addressed in school curricula. Students learned about health and environmental impacts of air pollution while gaining essential cycling and road safety skills. Through storybooks, club-based facilitation, and interactive sessions, the initiative helped shift student perceptions toward embracing bicycles as a sustainable mode of transport.
